We are hearing that the Spanish Government is to scrap the 40 year old law that non-EU buyers of Spanish property (that’s Brits of course) have to apply for military permission to buy property sited on historical military land.
This law created uncertainty and long delays to the time it took to complete on a property purchase. It was a law which didn’t apply when Britain was an EU member and in many ways has been proven redundant. In today’s climate, the law is seen as an obstacle to the revitalisation of the Spanish economy post-COVID and as such it is to be removed.
This is breaking news and we will provide more details as soon as we have them.
